NoseRub is making excellent progress towards free, distributed social networking. I’d still like to see more focus on self-hosted content (images, videos, etc.) and granular permissions/privacy settings.

The World Privacy Forum has published a list of their top 10 opt-outs. Everything from your standard Do Not Call registry, to credit offers, bulk mail, FERPA, tracking cookies, and more. Many can be completed online with just a few clicks. Definitely worth the time and effort.
