MBTA Attempts To Quash DEFCON Presentation
Some MIT students figured out how to thwart the MBTA’s CharlieTicket and CharlieCard systems. I wasn’t terribly surprised; London’s Oxygen card was cracked recently as well. But the MBTA thinks that they’ll somehow save themselves by declaring this a “threat to public health or safety” (just like Mooninites) and gagging the students’ DEFCON presentation. Unfortunately for them, the Powerpoint slides were distributed to all DEFCON attendees two days before the gag order. MIT’s student paper, The Tech, has all the relevant documents, including the one you’re probably looking for. So does WikiLeaks.
